Obviously I didn’t but I came pretty damn close… This is just a small ‘reminder’ post for me and possibly hordes of other Illustrator/Photoshop-turned-Sketchup users trying to create guides from the center of a circle.
To create guides in Sketchup, read this tutorial or just follow these steps:
- Click the Tape Measure tool or press the letter ‘T’.
- Don’t mess with your circle yet! First, move the cursor to a line that is parallel with the point that will be used to create the new guide. Make sure it says “On Edge” as it shows in the screenshot I’ve included.
- Click the mouse on the parallel line.
- Now move to the circle and find its center by ‘inference’ (hovering over the edge of the circle, then moving toward the center).
- Click the mouse again.
That only took two hours to figure out. One of the Sketchup help pages is completely unintelligible; I finally found this ‘note’ on the page I’ve included that explains it (f*&ck!!!):
